Quick start
running on your computer.

Install Verified Calls on your own computer, create the console owner, connect your bot and record a first call. For a server on the internet, continue with Installation.

01Before you start

  • Node.js 22 and pnpm installed (Requirements).
  • The package unzipped into a folder, for example verified-calls.
  • A Telegram account, to create your bot with @BotFather.

02Five steps

  1. Create the configuration fileIn the project folder copy the template: cp .env.example .env.
  2. Set the console keyRun openssl rand -hex 32 and paste the 64 characters after ADMIN_SECRET_KEY= in .env. Without it the console at /admin stays off.
  3. Installpnpm install. The first install builds the SQLite driver.
  4. Startpnpm start. Open http://localhost:8787: an empty leaderboard that says no calls have been recorded yet. That is correct.
  5. Create the ownerThe log prints a one-time setup code ("setupCode":"…"). Open http://localhost:8787/admin, enter the code, your email and a password of 12 or more characters.
cd verified-calls
cp .env.example .env
openssl rand -hex 32 # paste the output after ADMIN_SECRET_KEY= in .env
pnpm install
pnpm start

Tested on 1.0.0: pnpm install --frozen-lockfile and pnpm start on macOS with Node 22.22 and pnpm 10.33. The site answered, /admin opened the owner form and the log printed the setup code.

What the first log says

Without a bot token you see TELEGRAM_BOT_TOKEN is not set: no calls will be recorded … The site runs read-only. This is expected until the next step.

03Connect your bot

  1. Create the botIn Telegram open @BotFather, send /newbot and copy the token. Treat it like a password.
  2. Let it see group messagesIn @BotFather send /setprivacy, pick your bot, choose Disable. Or make the bot an admin of the group.
  3. Paste the tokenConsole → Get started, step 5 Telegram bot token (the same field is under System → Integrations): press Set, paste the token, then Test. The console asks Telegram who the bot is and warns if privacy mode is still on. The bot starts at once, no restart. The log says bot polling started.
  4. Add the bot to your groupThen open Monitor → Chats in the console (/admin/ops/sources) and press Approve. Nothing from a chat is recorded before you approve it. Until a chat records, the Overview shows the warning A chat is recording.
  5. Post a test callPost a message with a Solana token address in the group. It appears on the site within about a minute; its result fills in as the 1 h, 24 h and 7 d windows close.
Not tested here

The bot is covered by automated tests with Telegram update data. A live bot was not used while writing these docs. Full details: Telegram bot.
